ADR Module information

ADR 1.3.1, 1.6.1.9 & 8.2.1 stipulate that drivers of vehicles transporting substances classified as ‘Dangerous’ must be in possession of the relevant ADR vocational training certificate issued by the DVLA. This qualification can only be obtained by attending and passing the relevant Scottish Qualifications Authority examinations.

D & A Training are approved by the Department for Transport (DfT) and the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) for the training of drivers carrying dangerous goods. Any driver transporting dangerous goods within the scope of The Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regulations must acquire a Vocational Training Certificate (VTC) issued through DVLA. The VTC is issued once the driver has satisfactorily passed their relevant examinations.

D&A Training are accredited by both Scottish Qualifications Authority and the DFT and can provide Dangerous Goods Courses and hold Examinations at both their training centre, or if required at customer premises.

D & A Training are constantly conducting ADR training courses, both initial or refresher. We can offer all modules and classes (except Class 1 Explosives and Class 7 Radioactives). We are also able to provide ADR training "in company", subject to the centre meeting Scottish Qualifications Authority requirements.

The type of VTC (vocational training certificate) you require will depend upon which class of dangerous goods you are transporting.

Candidates are required to sit Scottish Qualifications Authority approved examinations for the classes they require and must also undertake the Core module and the Packaged module/ and or the Tanker module if required.

individual module information

CORE module is compulsory, this will include current legislation, fire precautions, vehicle equipment etc.

PACKAGED module is also compulsory for drivers who transport dangerous goods other than in Tanks.
